Wilfred Alexander was officially classed as the Air Bomber on the aircraft. Wilfred has trained in Australia initially as a Pilot and a Navigator/Observer, joining 27 OTU in January 1943 where he joined the crew he was to die with. He was born on 28th April 1909 and was a 32 year old salesman from Adelaide, South Australia when he was enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force at St. Peters, Adelaide on 8th November 1941. Wilfred was the son of William Ernest and Blanche Caroline Alexander of Adelaide, Southern Australia. Husband of Marne Jeane Alexander (nee Lewis) of Royston Park, also in Southern Australia. They had no children. Wilfred was a keen member of the Adelaide Rowing Club before he enlisted for active service in the Second World War. He died on Sunday 14th of March 1943, aged 33, in Training Accident 1. He is buried in St. Stephens Churchyard in Fradley. (Row 7, Grave 1) (Plot 245)
