Squadron Leader Shaw died whilst flying in a Battle of Britain air display, on 18th September 1948, aged 40. Mosquito TA507 of 51MU RAF Lichfield stalled during its display and crashed into a hospital in Lichfield, killing both crew members and 10 people on the ground. This was a special Battle of Britain Saturday when a large number of RAF airfields were open to the displays performed. He was buried in St. Stephens Churchyard, Fradley. (Row 6 , Grave 5) (Plot 249)
