Arthur Salt was a local 41 year old man from Burntwood, who worked at R.A.F. Lichfield. He was not a member of the R.A.F. but worked as a groundsman. He was killed on the airfield, on the 22nd of July 1941, when an aircraft crashed into the tractor he was driving. The tractor fell on top of him and he was crushed. He was the only civilian killed at RAF Lichfield.
