Son of Jesse James and Alice Dorcas, Rumbold of Sandown, the Isle of Wight. He died on Sunday the 12th of January 1941, aged 28. He was a member of the ground crew and was killed when a Beaufighter aircraft crashed into a wooden hut occupied by ground crew from Maintenance Unit 51, which was also based at R.A.F. Lichfield. Another member of the ground crew J. P. Rout was also killed. George Rumbold was buried in the Churchyard at St. Stephens, Fradley. (Row 1, Grave 1) (Plot 273)
