Family Connections
The origin of this word is unknown and there doesn’t seem to be any people from Fradley or Alrewas called ‘Lount’, so we are not sure where this name came from. The first mention are 2 fields shown on an 1842 tithe map called ‘Lount’ and ‘Lower Lount’. On an 1859 map these fields were then called ‘Ten acre’ and ‘Nine acre’, but there is a ‘Lount Lane’ shown on the map. This now borders to very NW of the housing estate. On an 1885 crop rotation map, the 2 fields were renamed ‘Far Lount’ and ‘Near Lount’.
