Involved in a Nickel Raid, dropping leaflets in occupied France on the night of the 23-24th of September 1943. Hit by flak and crashed in Beauvais in France. All of the crew survived. G.L. Dowling managed to bail out after the crew and was given help to return back to Britain, travelling through France and Spain. It took him six weeks to make his way back. He carried on flying and returned safely back home to Australia after the war.
