DETAILS OF ACCIDENT
Took off from Lichfield at 1715. For a Bullseye Sortie (shooting at targets). The
weather was getting worse and it was very foggy and difficult to see. The bomber
crashed into the River Tame,500 yards from Chetwynd a small village very near to
the airfield at Fradley. All five crew members were killed. The three Australians are buried in St. Stephens Churchyard and the rest were taken to their home towns.
